White Pollution in China
White pollution is a term broadly used in China. It generally results from an overuse of plastic products, which cannot easily decompose back to their original elements. Because plastic bags and plastic cases are mostly white in China, therefore, the plastic pollution is vividly called White Pollution.
Because of their low costs and convenience, plastic bags are overly produced in China. Plastic bags and plastic boxes have been universally used by local markets and petty dealers. Realizing the seriousness of white pollution problem, the government legislated in 2008 that plastic bags will no longer be free. However, it's not easy to eliminate white pollution. The existence of numerous local markets and petty dealers is one primary cause for the difficulty of fighting white pollution.
Though white pollution is a main source of white pollution, it's not rigorous enough to refer white pollution to only plastics pollution; There are other branches. For example, in farmlands, soil pollution caused by the use of plastic-film mulch can turn soil into sediment and thus cause soil pollution. For any disposable goods of any material, if the waste of them weren't soundly processed or were randomly discarded, they can cause pollution to the city landscape and our environment.
